Citizen of the Walls
Everyone believes that inside walls a mouse is safe But this is not always the case. A crime has happened. Walls were built for protection. But what if the murderer is still in this maze? A mouse is never safe when a cat knows its hiding place. Since the walls were built the river has frozen. The brightness was just a filter that was chosen. All the clocks stopped and the calendars were wiped blank. Criminals were now walking on a plank. The skies turned permanently grey. The grass turned into old hay. What can I say? I can’t even pray. The smell of roses, I can’t remember. What month is it? August, September? The walls are bigger than a giant. On them I am told to be reliant. They will keep the crime away. ‘It’s safe here’ they say. There are cameras everywhere, observing their new creation. Into their eyes I stare. This is not fair. I can’t live here.
